E-Signature or electronic signing of documents now part of Agile CRM
One of the last hurdles in the new digital economy has been the use of Electronic Signature or E-Signatures so that business can be conducted remotely with trust. There are many third party tools for adding E-Signatures (also called as eSign) to documents but they all require you to load another application and cost more. Agile CRM is now introducing E-Signature as yet another feature that comes pre bundled along with other 50+ features at no extra charge for all users.
What is Electronic Signature?
Also referred to as an E-signature or eSignature, it is an electronic marker that indicates that a person is agreeing or approving a contract or the contents of a document.
Is Electronic Signature legal?
According to the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act, otherwise known as the “ESIGN Act”, electronic signatures have the same legal standing as signatures using pen and paper. A contract or document cannot be denied its legal effect, validity, or enforceability because it’s in the electronic form.
Electronic signatures are legally enforceable in the US, Canada, U.K., Australia, the EU, and many more countries. However, there are still some cases where handwritten signatures are required. For example, in the U.S, registration to vote and receiving a new driver license still require a handwritten signature.
Benefits of Electronic Signatures
In this technology driven world, the traditional way of physically signing a document is tedious, cumbersome, and expensive.
Customers could be halfway around the world and E-Documents make it easy to get them signed. For example, a real estate agent can get customers to understand terms and sign contracts quickly even while they are traveling. Similarly, two companies can sign confidentiality agreements immediately using E-Signatures.
How to eSign a Document in Agile CRM?
The authorization is usually in the form of simply Typing or Signing your name on a panel or Uploading the Signed image. Here are the 3 Steps needed to eSign a document in Agile CRM:
- Create an E-Document by associating Contact and Deal
- Add Signature merge fields of Contact and Owner
- Send E-Document to customer as email
At the other end, Customer opens the E-Document and signs it. If you want to see the details please watch this quick screencast click here.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, Agile CRM now offers integrated Electronic Signatures so that you can sign your documents electronically and conduct your business faster than ever without having to buy additional applications.

about 7 years agoI'm looking for something that can be made to give access to certain secure files once someone has signed a particular agreement. Do you have anything like this or is it something that can be managed with your services?

about 7 years agoCan I create a Template document without associating a contact or deal immediately? I want my template in the system before I assign it to make sure there are no typos or errors.

about 7 years agoYes, that's possible. You can create a document template and save it for using it in the future.
